Jodhpur Tourist Places: The Beauty of The Blue City of Rajasthan

Jodhpur is the largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. Jodhpur is famous as "the Blue City" as it completely blue because of its blue walls and houses. Jodhpur is world famous for its temples, lakes and snacks, with the amazing Mehrangarh Fort being the main attraction of the tourists.

The beauty of Jodhpur is in the streets of the old city, which circles the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. Numerous shops, guesthouses, eating joints, and vendors make it a lively town, especially near the magnificent clock tower and Sardar Market. Umaid Bhawan Palace 

Umaid Bhawan Palace is the Best Hotel in the world, The Palace is also a major tourist attraction in Jodhpur. Not only a heritage hotel, it is a museum and the residence of the Royal Family of the present owner, Raja Gaj Singh. Umaid Bhawan Palace was built-in 1943, the palace was commissioned in 1929, The palace was built in order to provide employment to the drought and grief-stricken farmers of the area. 

Umaid Bhavan Palace provides amazing hospitality along with heritage walks to a beautiful dining experiences. The 347 - room palace has been divided into three parts. One part is only the residence of the royal family, where the tourists are not allowed to enter. Jaswant Thada 

In Jodhpur lies the Jaswant Thada, which is a splendid marble cenotaph monument that is also burial chamber for the kings of Marwar. The Jaswant Thada was built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 and is still used by the Marwar Royal Family. The beautiful monument is made out of intricately carved marble that is vibrantly against the red steps that lead up to the entrance.  Jaswant Thada is also called the Taj Mahal of Marwar and attracts tourists from all over the world.

Mehrangarh Fort 

Mehrangarh Fort was built by Rao Jodha in 1459 in Jodhpur, is one of the largest forts in the country. It is build at the top of a 410 feet elevated hill and guarded by massive walls. The entrance of the fort, is great and has seven gates. These gates are called Victory Gate, Fateh Gate, Gopal Gate, Bhairon Gate, Dedh Kamgra Gate, Marti Gate and finally Loha Gate. The fort also has beautiful Palaces like the Sheesh Mahal (Glass Palace) and Phool Mahal (Rose Palace). The carvings on the walls of the fort, the sprawling courtyards, its impressive history, striking palaces, museums and galleries attracts tourists from all over the world.  

Toorji Ka Jhalra 

The Toorji Ka Jhalra was constructed in 1740, commonly called step well of Jodhpur, is an complex design of step well, one of the few remaining structures depicting the traditional water management systems of Jodhpur. This architectural wonder was built by the queen-consort of Maharaja Abhaya Singh, this 250-year-old structure was made using the famous rose-red sandstone found in Jodhpur. The impressive design of Toorji Ka Jhalra attracts many tourists, and is a place where locals and visitors engage in harmless, recreational water games.

Mandore Garden 

The Famous Mandore Garden is just 9 kms away from Jodhpur. The garden is a part of the massive Mehrangarh Fort, and also houses the famous Hall of Heroes and the temple of Three Hundred Million Gods. The garden also houses a Government Museum, which is full of artifacts and old relics. The structures inside the garden are doubtlessly most striking feature, the Hall of Heroes for instance - has 16 figures of warriors carved from a single rock.

Khejarla Fort 

The Khejarla Fort in Jodhpur has been converted into a heritage hotel. The best time to visit Jodhpur is November to February, although these are cold. This is the best weather to visit Jodhpur. October and March also provides awesome weather for a trip to Jodhpur.
