The 70th match of IPL 2023 played between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Titans at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 21st May 2023. GT won the toss and opted to bowl. RCB batted first and managed to score 197 runs in 20 overs by losing five wickets. GT, on the other hand, successfully chased down the target in just 19.1 overs by losing only 4 wickets. As a result, GT defeated RCB comprehensively by 6 wickets. With this, RCB has unfortunately missed out on the playoffs this season, dashing their hopes of taking home the IPL Title. On the other hand, MI has successfully secured a place in the playoffs.

RCB had an impressive start during the powerplay as their openers, Plessis and Kohli, scored 62 runs without losing any wickets. The duo played exceptionally well in partnership and added 67 runs to the team's score in just 43 balls. Plessis contributed with 28 runs off 19 bowls before he returned to the pavilion. Kohli, on the other hand, played a remarkable inning of unbeaten 101 runs from just 61 balls, which included an explosive display of 13 boundaries and one sixer. Overall, RCB had a great start thanks to their opening pair.

GT's Noor Ahmed showcased an impressive performance with 2 wickets, while Rashid Khan, Shammi, and Dayal contributed to the team's success by taking one wicket each.

GT Openers, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill, began their inning chasing a total of 198 runs. Unfortunately, Saha lost his wicket early on and returned to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs. However, during the powerplay, GT managed to score an impressive 51 runs. Gill and Vijay Shankar then took charge of the inning and formed a strong partnership that yielded 123 runs off just 71 balls. Eventually, Shankar departed after scoring an excellent 53 runs off only 35 balls, which included seven boundaries and two sixes. Shubman Gill proved himself to be a star performer by playing an explosive inning of 104 runs off just 52 balls. The unbeaten innings by Shubman included eight fiery sixes and five boundaries, making it a truly remarkable display of his skills.

RCB's Mohammed Siraj took two wickets, while Vyshak and Patel also contributed by taking one wicket each.

RCB, a subsidiary of United Spirits Limited and part of the Diageo Group, was founded in 2008. While they have been an active participant in the IPL, RCB has yet to secure a championship win. However, they have achieved the runner-up position in three seasons of IPL - 2009, 2011, and 2016. GT, the team founded in 2021 and currently owned by CVC Capital Partners, had a triumphant debut season in which they secured the IPL Title.
