Harmanpreet Kaur Leads India to Dominant Victory over Bangladesh in 1st T20

In a highly anticipated return to the field after 135 days, the Indian women's cricket team showcased their dominance with a resounding victory over Bangladesh in the first T20 match of the series. Led by the inspirational captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, India outclassed the hosts by seven wickets with 22 balls to spare. The match, played at Mirpur, proved to be a cakewalk for the Indian team, as they displayed their superior skills and thoroughly outplayed their opponents.

A Solid Bowling Performance
Opting to bowl first, the Indian team made an immediate impact by dismissing the Bangladesh top-order batters for a modest score of 114/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The debutant spinners, Minnu Mani and Bareddy Anusha, showcased their talent and composure as they picked up crucial wickets. Mani, from Wayanad, Kerala, made an early breakthrough by removing Shamima Sultana, while medium-pacer Pooja Vastrakar bowled Shathi Rani. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also utilized the part-time spin of Shafali Verma, who contributed by getting Sobhana Mostary stumped. The Indian bowlers, especially the young debutants, displayed great control and restricted the Bangladeshi batsmen from scoring freely.

Bangladesh's Struggle
The inexperienced Bangladesh team struggled to capitalize on a good run rate, managing to score only 100 runs in 17.5 overs. The top-order batters, Shathi Rani, Shamima Sultana, and Sobhana Mostary, played crucial innings but failed to convert their starts into big scores. It was Shorna Akter, batting at No.5, who provided some resistance with an unbeaten 28-ball 28, taking her team to a total of 114. However, the Indian bowlers, particularly left-arm spinner Bareddy from Andhra Pradesh, controlled the scoring rate effectively by conceding only 24 runs from her four overs. Seasoned spinner Deepti Sharma also bowled exceptionally well, conceding just 14 runs in her allotted four overs.

India's Dominant Chase
In response to Bangladesh's modest total, the Indian openers, Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, started aggressively but Verma was dismissed for a duck off the third ball of the first over bowled by Marufa Akter. Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues then formed a partnership to steady the innings. While Mandhana played with composure, Rodrigues was in a hurry to finish off the chase and was eventually bowled by spinner Sultana Khatun for 11.
