The first season of WPL 2023 has come to an end with Mumbai Indians emerging as the winners. They defeated Delhi Capitals in the final match by 7 wickets, scoring 134 runs in 19.3 overs. The match was held at Brabourne Stadium between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, with DC's Captain Meg Lanning winning the toss and opting to bat first. In 20 overs, Delhi Capitals scored 132 runs, losing 9 wickets in the innings. Natalie Sciver from Mumbai Indians played a strong inning, scoring 60 runs and securing the team's victory alongside Amelia Kerr (14). Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed 37 runs before returning to the pavilion.
The Mumbai Indians were declared the winners of the tournament and were awarded the prestigious WPL Title along with a cash prize of ₹6 Cr. The Delhi Capitals came in second place and received a prize of ₹3 Cr. Meanwhile, the UP Warriorz, who played against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator match, were given a prize money of ₹1 Cr. Radha Yadav and Jess Jonassen from the Delhi Capitals each took one wicket.
During the first innings of the final match, Meg Lanning was the only player of Delhi Capitals who performed well. She managed to score 35 runs in 29 balls. Unfortunately, the other players did not fare well, resulting in a team score of 131 runs and 9 wickets lost in 20 overs. Radha Yadav and Shikha Pandey both scored 27 runs, while Marizanne Kapp (18) and Shafali Varma (11) contributed to the score as well. Jemimah Rodrigues (9), Jess Jonassen (2), Tania Bhatia (0), Alice Capsey (0), Arundhati Reddy (0), and Minnu Mani (0) were all dismissed and returned to the pavilion. Mumbai Indians' Issabelle Wong and Heyley Matthews took 3 wickets each, while Amelia Kerr took 2 wickets.
