UPW Captain, Alyssa Healy, won the toss and opted to field first. DC openers, Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma, started off the innings with a bang, adding 62 runs in the powerplay without losing any wickets. DC set a target of 211 runs in 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Meg Lanning scored 70 runs before being clean bowled by Rajeshwari Gayakwad. Alice Capsey, Shafali Varma, and Marizanne Kapp were out before Lanning. Gayakwad, Sophie, Shabnim, and McGrath each took 1 wicket for UP Warriorz. Shafali Varma was caught by Kiran in the 7th over, Kapp was caught by Deepti Sharma in the 11th over, and Lanning was bowled out by Gayakwad in the 12th over. Advertisment During the match, there was a break of thirty minutes due to rain after 9 overs were played. The DC team had scored 87 runs and were one wicket away from a loss. Lanning (53) and Kapp (9) were batting at the time the game was paused. UPW began their innings chasing a target of 222 runs with openers Alyssa Healy and Shweta Sehrawat. Healy started off strong, contributing 24 runs for 17 balls before getting out. However, UPW lost three wickets for just 33 runs, with Shweta and Kiran getting out for 1 and 2 runs respectively. Despite a good partnership with Tahlia McGrath, Deepti Sharma only managed to score 12 runs before being dismissed. Devika added 23 runs to the team's score. Unfortunately, McGrath was the only one who remained not out, scoring 90 runs off 50 balls, but it wasn't enough to secure a win for UPW. They ended up making 169 runs and lost the match to Delhi Capitals. In the match between DC and UPW in the WPL 2023 series, Jess Jonassen proved to be the star bowler by taking three wickets of Allys Healy, Kiran Navgire, and Devika out of the five wickets that were down for UPW. Kapp and Shikha Pandey also contributed by taking one wicket each. Ultimately, DC won the game by a margin of 42 runs, marking their second victory in the WPL 2023 series after their triumph over RCB by 60 runs in an earlier match.
