4th Match of WPL is being played at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB won the Toss and chose to bat first. In the 18.4 overs, RCB made the target of 155 runs for MI.
RCB’s Top order started playing well and added 35 runs till the 4th over without losing any wicket. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine geared up their top order. At the Team score of 39 runs, Sophie Devine returned to the pavilion. Devine scored 16 runs for 11 balls. After that RCB lost 4 consecutive wickets.
Saika bowled and Amanjot took the catch of Devine. Mandhana were also sent back to the pavilion by Matthews. Mandhana scored 23 runs for 17 balls. Disha Kasat failed to open her account for the match.
After then Richa Ghosh settled on the crease and scored 28 runs for 26 balls. Kanika Ahuja scored 22 runs for 13 balls, Shreyanka Patil 23 runs for 15 balls and Megan Schutt 20 runs for 14 balls.
Chasing 156 runs, Mumbai Indians took it to the crease and Stunning openers Yastika Bhatia and Healy Matthews kickstarts the innings for MI. Both were added 45 runs for the first wicket. First wicket for MI fell in the form of Yastika Bhatia who was LBW out by Preeti Bose. It was 5th over when Yastika returned to the pavilion by scoring 23 runs for the Team for 19 balls.
After that Natalie Sciver became the Team’s strength and Matthews and Sciver played in a very good partnership of 114 runs. Matthews scored 77* runs for 38 balls and Sciver scored 55* for 29 balls runs leading the Team score to 159 in just 14.2 overs on the loss of only 1 wicket.
MI won the match by 9 wickets. This is the second victory for MI in the WPL 2023 tournament.
