Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Highlights: WIW vs PAKW; West Indies won by 3 runs

The 19th match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 took place at Boland Park, Paarl, between West Indies and Pakistan. West Indies women's team won the toss and chose to bat first. Initially, the team had a good partnership for the first wicket, adding 33 runs. Unfortunately, they lost their first wicket in the form of Captain Mathews, who scored 20 runs. Later, Williamson and Campbelle shared a good partnership for the second wicket, adding 40 runs for their team. Williamson scored 30 runs in 34 balls, and Campbelle added 22 runs in 26 balls. However, apart from them, none of the West Indies batsmen performed well, resulting in a score of 116 in 20 overs. Nida Dar, an all-rounder from Pakistan, took 2 wickets in 4 overs.

Pakistan struggled to chase down a target of 117 runs, losing their first wicket early on to Captain Matthews. They suffered another setback, losing their second wicket at 15. However, the third-wicket partnership between Maroof and Dar added 44 runs to the scoreboard. Maroof scored 26 runs in 33 balls and Dar scored 27 runs in 21 balls. Although middle-order batsman Riaz played a good inning of 29 runs in 23 balls, the team fell short and lost by 3 runs. West Indies skipper put in an all-round performance, scoring 20 runs off 21 balls and taking two crucial wickets, earning the player of the match award.
