Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Highlights: IND vs AUS; India out of the World Cup Race

Australia faced off against India in the first semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 at Newland CapeTown. Winning the toss, Australia chose to bat first and got off to a great start with their opener adding 52 runs for the first wicket. Mooney batted exceptionally well, scoring 54 runs in 37 balls, while Captain Lanning remained unbeaten with 49 runs in 34 balls. Gardner played a splendid inning in the last over, scoring 31 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 172. The Australian team managed to post a mammoth score of 172 runs in their 20 overs. Pandey, Radha, and Deepti took 2, 1, and 1 wickets, respectively.

The Indian Team had a tough start chasing 173, losing their first wicket for only 11 runs. Smriti Mandhana followed soon after, leaving India at 15 runs for 2 wickets down. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Rodrigues played well together, adding 69 runs for the fourth wicket. Rodrigues had an impressive performance, scoring 42 runs in just 24 balls at a strike rate of 179 runs. Unfortunately, Kaur was run out after scoring 52 runs in 34 balls. Despite their best efforts, the Indian Women's Cricket Team fell short by just 5 runs, resulting in a loss to Australia and elimination from the T20 World Cup Race. Gardner was named player of the match.
