The toss was won by South Africa, who decided to bat first. The team started well, adding 96 runs for the first wicket. Wolvaardt and Brits played important innings, scoring 53 and 68 runs, respectively. South Africa finished their innings with a total of 164 runs. Khaka and Ismail bowled exceptionally well, taking 4 and 3 wickets, respectively. England began their chase with a good start, adding 53 runs for the first wicket.
