Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 Highlights: IND vs AUS; India out of the World Cup Race

The first semi-final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 was played between India vs Australia at Newland CapeTown.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Australia's opener added 52 runs for the first wicket in a good partnership.

Opener Mooney batted well adding 54 runs in 37 balls. Captain Lanning of Australia scored 49 runs in 34 balls not out. Gardner played fast in the last over, scoring 31 runs in 18 balls at a strike rate of 172. 

Australia posted a mammoth score of 172 runs in their 20 overs.

Pandey bowled well taking 2 wickets and Radha and Deepti took one wicket each. 

Chasing 173, the Indian Team did not get off to a good start and lost their first wicket for just 11 runs. India lost its second wicket in the form of Smriti Mandhana for 15 runs.



For the fourth wicket, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Rodrigues added 69 runs while batting well. Rodrigues played a very good inning, adding 42 runs in 24 balls at a strike rate of 179 runs. 

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was run out after scoring 52 runs in 34 balls. Indian Women's Cricket Team put all efforts and tried their best but all in vain just for 5 runs. India face loss to Australia by 5 runs and became out of the T20 World Cup Race.

Gardner was adjudged player of the match.
