The eighth match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup was played between Bangladesh Women vs Australia Women at the ST George Park Stadium, Gqeberha. Bangladesh Women won the toss and chose to bat first.
Bangladesh Women’s Team got two setbacks in the beginning, scoring only 7 and 11 runs. Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the form of Shamina Sultan and second as the dismissal of Murshida Khatun.
After the fall of 2 wickets, Bangladesh's Captain Nigar Sultana came on the field. Nigar hit a half-century and by scoring 57 runs in 50 balls, brought her Team's score to 107.
Sultana holds her legs at the crease from one side but on the other side, wickets by wickets were kept falling which resulted in the poor score of Bangladesh Women's Team even after their captain played such a good innings. There was no single player in the Bangladesh Team who have scored even a double-digit score, for the reason Bangladesh's target was only 107 runs in 20 overs.
Australian bowler Wareham took three wickets for just 20 runs in his allotted 4 overs. Darcie Brown took two and Megan Schutt and Gardner took one wicket each.
Chasing 107 runs, the first wicket of the Australian team fell in the form of Mooney for just 9 runs.
After the fall of the first wicket, Australian Captain Lanning played a very good innings, scoring 48 not out in 50 balls, the innings was well supported by wicketkeeper Healy, who scored 37 runs in 36 balls.
Backed by the good bowling and batting performance of the Australian Team, The Team defeated Bangladesh and conclude the match in 18.2 overs by 8 wickets.
Georgia Wareham, who took 3 wickets from Australia, was adjudged Man of the Match.
