India emerged victorious in the Test Series against Australia, thereby securing a spot in the Test Championship Finals. In October-November, the One Day World Cup will be held in India. The previous World Cup hosted in India was won by the Indian team under the leadership of Captain cool MS Dhoni, who led the team to a 6-wicket victory against Sri Lanka. The team will now be captained by Rohit Sharma.
India will kickstart their World Cup campaign by playing a One Day series against Australia. The team, coached by Rahul Dravid, will have to participate in a total of 14 One Day matches leading up to the World Cup. Out of these 14 matches, 9 will be held as part of bilateral series while the remaining 5 will be played under Asia Cup.
The One day series against Australia will kick off on 17th March 2023 at Wankhede Stadium, followed by a trip to West Indies in July. The Team India will then participate in the Asia Cup Tournament against Pakistan on their home ground in July. After this, they will play one more round of series against Australia in India.
Strength and Weakness of Indian Team
The Indian cricket team is excelling in both batting and bowling, while also performing well in fielding. The team's top and middle order comprises skilled players such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. The lower order is bolstered by all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, who are commanding in their roles. Additionally, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akshar Patel are performing admirably in the bowling department.
In the past two World Cup tournaments, Team India has failed to make it to the top four teams. Additionally, the team has been struggling with injuries among its players, which is a major cause for concern.
