New Rules In IPL 2023: Playing XI Decision After Toss

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to start from 31st March which will continue till 21st May 2023. It is the 16th season of the IPL since it started.

In a big change in IPL rules from this year, BCCI announced that franchises can decide ‘Playing XI’ after the toss.

IPL teams can now announce their Playing XI after the toss in the upcoming IPL Season 2023. The captains had to exchange team sheets at the toss earlier, but now they can tweak the list of players based on the toss.

In another change of rule, the captains will have the flexibility to select their impact player during the match.

Here are some more changes in IPL 2023

  • Only four fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle for every over outside the allocated time.
  • Franchises to give 15-player team sheets, with one of the 4 substitutes in contention to be an impact player.
  • Unfair movement of the wicketkeeper & fielder will result in a dead ball and 5 penalty runs.
