Nitish Rana was born in Delhi on December 27th, 1993. He is recognized as an aggressive left-handed batsman who also bowls part-time off-spin. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2015-16, Rana scored 299 runs in eight innings and was the top six-hitter. Also, he made his first-class debut the same year in the Ranji Trophy and emerged as his team's leading run-scorer, with 557 runs that include a century and three fifties. He also ran out Wasim Jaffer for a duck and achieved a half-century against Vidarbha.
He played an outstanding innings of 97 runs off just 40 balls during a match against Andhra, which included 8 boundaries and 8 sixers. It was a remarkable display of counterattacking skills.
During the IPL 2015 season, Mumbai Indians purchased him for ₹10 Lakh but unfortunately, he didn't get the opportunity to play. However, in 2018, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him and he has been retained ever since due to his successful contributions.
He played his first international matches in ODI and T20I against Sri Lanka in June 2021.
Nitish Rana attributes his aggressive batting abilities to the guidance he received from Ricky Ponting, the former Australian Cricketer and Mumbai Indians coach. During the seasons in which he did not play for the team, Ponting aided him in improving his batting.
