Know your Cricketer: Devdutt Padikkal; a top order Batter

Devdutt Padikkal is a proficient Indian cricketer who actively participates in Karnataka Domestic and Rajasthan Royals of IPL. He predominantly plays as a top-order batsman and is known for his left-handed batting skills and right-arm offbreak bowling.

Devdutt Padikkal was born on July 7, 2000, in Edappal, Kerala. He received his training in cricket at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket after his family moved to Bangalore. He played for the Karnataka team at the under-16 and under-19 levels.

In the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, Devdutt marked his first-class debut for Karnataka. He was then selected by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL Season 2019, during which he made an impressive achievement. Devdutt scored three fifties in his first four matches, making him the first player to ever do so. The following year, he made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and was the highest run-scorer with an impressive 609 runs in eleven matches. Devdutt later made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy that same year.

Devdutt was awarded the Emerging Player Award for IPL Season 2020, while playing for RCB. He scored 473 runs in 15 matches. This achievement was made in the year 2020.

Devdutt started playing T20I matches in July 2021 when he made his debut for the national team against Sri Lanka. The Rajasthan Royals team bought him ahead of IPL Season 2022 in February 2022. In April 2022, while playing for RR, he successfully completed his 1000 runs in IPL.
