Andre Russell

Andre Russell is an international cricket player from West Indies who plays as an all-rounder. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast bowler. He represents the Jamaica team in the domestic circuit. Russell is a T20 specialist and has won the T20 World Cup twice, making him a legend in this format of the game.

He came into this world on April 29, 1988, in Kingston, Jamaica. He started playing first-class cricket at the tender age of 19 and made his Test debut three years later against Sri Lanka in 2010. The following year, he marked his presence in the ODI format against Ireland. In 2019, he achieved the record of being the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in ODI in just 767 balls. He has participated in more than 300 T20 matches.

In 2012, the Delhi Daredevils purchased him for $450,000 to play in the IPL season. Later, he was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before the 2014 season, where he became a reliable batsman for the team, especially towards the end of the matches. He was recognized as the Player of the Series during the 2015 IPL season, and in 2018, he received the Super Striker award for having the highest strike rate.

Russell is a proficient batter who hits the ball with great power and is responsible for finishing the game. He holds the record for the fastest century in the Caribbean Premier League, achieving his 100 runs in just 42 balls in 2016. Furthermore, in 2018, he surpassed his own record by completing 100 runs in just 40 balls.
